2. I do not have aphasia even though my screen name is "Aphasialady".
3. I am a Clinical Instructor in Speech Language Pathology. One of my more irreverent students, upon meeting me for the 1st time, said, "Oh, you're the Aphasialady." I was not offended at all and kinda proud that I had a reputation.
4. I have been providing speech and language treatment to people with aphasia since 1990.
5. My favorite thing to do is to work in groups with my patients with aphasia and my students. I love seeing a room full of people learning from each other.
6. I started this blog to see if I could expand knowledge about aphasia among the general public.
7. No one calls me Aphasialady in my real life. Mu current students are less "irreverent". They are smart and compassionate. It makes me happy that the next generation of aphasiologists will provide superior and evidence-based treatment to people with aphasia.
8. This is difficult. I might be stuck at 8 things...Oh, I currently have about 20 people with aphasia on my caseload. They have varying levels of communicative impairment.
9. I would love to have someone develop a cure for aphasia and put me totally out of business.
10. As long as there is no cure...I work to help people with aphasia (PWA) communicate.
I made it!
